Macbook Pro 2016 vs. Samsung ATIV Book 9 – Specs, Prices and Features Comparison
There are lots of rumors about the Macbook Pro 2016, which is expected to arrive before Christmas, while other reports claim that the laptop will be released in the first quarter of 2016. Samsung has been busy working on a challenger, which is the Ativ Book 9 Pro priced at $1,599, but the South Korean manufacturer launched another model with a smaller display and weaker specs, which is the Ativ Book 9 Spin priced at $1,399. The Samsung laptops will be shipped to the US until December.
The Ativ Book 9 Pro is powered by an Intel Core i7 6700HQ processor which runs at 2.6GHz, but with Turbo Boost, it reaches 3.5GHz. It uses an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950M chipset with maximum graphics memory of 2GB GDDR5, but the memory configuration contains 8GB LPDDR3 (1866MHz). The laptop supports an internal memory of 256GB (SSD) and its display is LCD (touchscreen) sized at 15.6-inch, which has an aspect ratio of 16:9 and a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels (4K). If you’re using Skype or other applications to make video calls, then you can use the 720p HD webcam.
The Ativ Book 9 Spin is powered by an Intel Core i7 6500U processor running at 2.5GHz, but its speed can be boosted up to 3.1GHz, and it’s backed by Intel HD Graphics 520 and 8GB LPDDR3 (1866MHz). The internal memory has a similar capacity, but the screen has a diagonal of 13.3-inch, with a QHD+ resolution of 3200 x 1800 pixels. The laptop has a 360-degree hinge, allowing it to flip and to be used a tablet.
Both devices are have rigid aluminum unibody frames and come with three full-size USB 3.0 ports and one full-size HDMI port, but in addition, the Pro model supports a full-size slot for SD cards.
The upcoming MacBook Pro is rumored to come in two variants of screen sizes: 13-inch and 15-inch, which could be priced at around $1500. They will run on El Capitan and will support the new Force Touch technology, will be powered by an Intel Skylake-U processor with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 950 graphic card and will benefit from a Type-C USB port.
