It is official: Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon have been announced

The next major pair of titles in the Pokémon franchise have been announced and shown off to the public in the form of an announcement trailer, but little else.

Nintendo released a trailer to announce their next title in the Pokémon franchise via their livestream, Nintendo Direct. The trailer did little more than to prove that the leak of the aforementioned Sun and Moon that was leaked earlier this week, was in actual fact completely true, that these were the next two titles in the franchise.

The trailer they released for the pair of games did little to show off the new series, with only a few seconds of behind the scene future for the game, although that’s not confirmed. For the rest of the trailer it was showing off the typical “battle, collect, trade, and train” aspect of Pokémon we all know and love, and demonstrating how that all changed throughout the years.

Unfortunately, however, that trailer told us little to nothing about the latest pair, much to the chagrin of Pokémon fans. Clearly, Nintendo don’t feel they have enough on the games to show off to the public, so we’re going to have to watch this space to see what is revealed about the games in the next few months.

Thankfully, what we do have for the games is a semi-vague release date. It is set to be released “holidays, 2016.” This means that the games will be coming out late this year during the Christmas holidays. The light at the end of the tunnel is in sight for fans, and it’s only nearer the end of the year.

It sucks to wait; it sucks even more to have to wait a year for something to come out, which is not the case this time around; information all fans are bound to be happy about.
